Shri Piyush Goyal, Commerce And Industry Minister, Leads the Meeting Aimed to Explore New Opportunities Emerging from Evolving Trade Scenarios

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, chaired a meeting in New Delhi with Export Promotion Councils and Industry Bodies to discuss the evolving global trade scenario. The meeting focused on the challenges and opportunities arising from current global dynamics and updated the industry on government actions. Shri Goyal applauded exporters for achieving a record-high export value of over USD 820 billion in fiscal year 2024-25, a nearly 6% growth despite global headwinds such as the red sea crisis, the Israel-Hamas conflict, and the Russia-Ukraine war.
The Minister also provided updates on discussions with the US for a mutually beneficial Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), initiated by Hon’ble PM Modi in February 2025. He assured exporters that the government is committed to creating a conducive environment to help them navigate global trade changes. Highlighting India’s potential to attract global supply chain players, he emphasized increased manufacturing and job creation as key benefits. Various Export Promotion Councils and Industry bodies presented their concerns and requested proactive government measures to support the export sector during these challenging times.
