Government Greenlights Procurement of 37.39 Lakh Tonnes of Gram and Lentils for 2025 Rabi Season.
On Thursday, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that the government has approved the procurement of 37.39 lakh tonnes of gram and lentils, along with 28.28 lakh tonnes of mustard, for the 2025 rabi marketing season. The procurement will be carried out by central agencies Nafed and NCCF under the Price Support Scheme (PSS), with Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat being the primary producing states.
Chouhan specified that the pulse procurement includes 27.99 lakh tonnes of gram and 9.40 lakh tonnes of lentils. He also urged state governments to ensure that the procurement process adheres to the minimum support price (MSP) and that no purchases are made below that threshold.
